Kijek/Adamski is a duo working in a field of video, animation, computer design and fine arts. They are especially interested in areas where all abovementioned genres can mix and influence one another. The artists constantly look for new, intriguing ways of creative expression which they later use in their projects, trying to keep far off the beaten track. Katarzyna Kijek was born in Ostroleka in 1981. In years 2002-2007 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Przemyslaw Adamski, born in 1980 in Lomza, studied from 2001 to 2006 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and Warsaw. In 2007-2008 he taught at the Gdansk Academy of Fine Arts, and since 2009 he has been part of the faculty the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Kijek/Adamski have already received several awards and honorary mentions, including: Grand Prix – Canon Contest in the category of animation (Warsaw 2005), honorary diploma at the 47th Cracow Film Festival (2007), Best Polish Animated Music Video Award for “Everytime” at the Yach Film Festival (2009), Grand Prix at the Shortwaves Festival for “Noise” (2010). Their script for “Debut” won the Young Animation Script Contest organized by the Polish Filmmakers Association (2012), whereas “Pirate’s Life” was nominated to the British Music Video Awards and was later awarded for the Best Music Video at CutOut Fest (2012).
