Giannalberto Bendazzi was born in 1946 in Ravenna. Currently an independent scholar, is a former professor of History of Animation at the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, at the Università degli studi of Milan, and at the Griffith University of Brisbane. He wrote many books and articles. His best known work is “Cartoons, 100 Years of Cinema Animation” (1994), a general history of the medium that in a few months will be replaced by Animation - A World History (three tomes, 1500 pages). Another good work of his is “Alexeieff – Itinerary of a Master” (2001, in English and French), which is devoted to the famous auteur of experimental short films. Bendazzi also wrote books on live-action cinema, on Woody Allen and Mel Brooks. In order to promote animation he got involved in many more books, festivals, retrospectives, articles, essays, lectures, classes and so on. He lives in Milano.
