Born in 1978 in Lublin, he currently lives in Warsaw. Kurek is a composer, musician and an avid collector of instruments and vintage studio equipment. In the late 1990s he co-founded an electronic group – Ślepcy (The Blind Men) and since then he has released music for various record labels and cooperated with international theatre and modern dance groups such as The Lublin Dance Theatre or Centre Choréographique National de Rillieux-la-Pape, as well as with many independent choreographers and directors including Joanna Grabowiecka, Ryszard Kalinowski and Robert Drobniuch. He is an author or co-author of several instrumental projects e.g. Piętnastka (The Fifteen). Kurek has made a number of solo albums, his debut was released in 2009 by the Portuguese Crónica Electronica. He performed at music and theatre festivals in New York, Krakow, Tbilisi, Poznan and many more.
