He was born in 1947, in Nowy Sącz. He is the younger brother of Julian Antoniszczak (Antonisz). From 1981 he is better known as Richard Antonius (in Sweden) and Ryszard Antonius-Antoniszczak (in Poland). He is a screen writer, set designer, director of animated and combined films and a painter. He also works as a book and magazine illustrator (among others, the Polish magazine for children titled “Świerszczyk” and “New York Times”). He is the author of lyrics and books for children. He is a graduate of the Painting and Graphic Arts Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1971). He has been associated with the Studio of Animated Films in Kraków since 1974. Antoniszczak has been living and working in Sweden since 1981. He also makes films in Poland. The majority of his work is directed towards the youngest of audiences.
